I can see the wisdom until waiting for a Brexit deal to be reached (or not; and either way with fingers crossed for it to be terrible).
I can also see the political logic in trying to get a referendum now, while resentment at the Leave win is strong.

There is a petition that has been signed by over 100,000 "scots" for parliament to debate NOT having a second referendum.

By its very nature out of date.
More relevant is today's YouGov poll showing a 14% lead for No to independence, the first opinion poll since the 2014 referendum to show a bigger majority against independence than the result of that referendum.

The Scots are not going to vote for this crazy idea from a nationalistic Krankie. She doesn't realise that once the UK PR machine gets into gear and reminds Scots that banks need to be in England if Scotland leaves; that the oil is running out; that they have to take a share of the national debt; that there would be a hard border and visas for Scottish emigrants to England...
How come she doesn't get branded Right Wing like all other nationalists do?

Good luck to them, but that would be a hard road.
Maybe there would be a compromise, with an independent Scotland outside the EU with a free trade agreement and open border with the UK.

Support for Scottish independence is at its highest-ever level, according to an academic study.
But the Scottish Social Attitudes survey also suggested the popularity of the European Union has fallen.
The researchers said this suggested focusing on EU membership may not be the best way to swing more voters towards independence.
